Types of Mining methods:-

Basically there are two types of mining method,

1)     Open cast.

2)     Underground Mining.

 

1)     Open cast:-

The mining or extraction of ore is done at earth surface and which is open to atmosphere is called as Open cast mining method.

2)     Underground Mining:-

The mining or extraction of ore is done below the earth surface or in the hill and which is not open to atmosphere are called as underground mining method.

1)  Open Cast mining method;

                    a)  Manual open cast.

                     b) Semi – Mechanized Open cast.

                     c)    Fully – Mechanized Open cast.  

 

2)  Underground Mining method;

                   a) Bord & Pillar method,

i)       With panel (Caving / Stowing)

ii)      Without panel (Caving / Stowing)  

 b)  Longwall method,

i)       Longwall advancing.

ii)      Longwall retreating.
