A) Advantage of Underground (U\G) mining method.
· The land above u\g mines is not
disturbed and only small area required at pit-top for office, workshop, winding
room etc.
· The agriculture and forest land not
disturbed with u\g mining.
· There is not much environmental
problem such as air pollution, noise pollution.
· No need to excavate over burden to
reach ore body.
·
In
u\g mining method does not affected on work by weather.
B) Disadvantage of Underground (U\G) mining method.
·
There
is roof fall problem hence we require roof supporting material which are
costly.
·
Additional
material (stowing material) required to fill excavated area.
· There is problem and danger of gas
exposition, inundation and roof fall.
· In this method required artificial
lighting and proper ventilation.
· High mechanized is not possible.
· This is costly mining method as
compare to open cast mining.
· Full extraction is not possible
mineral is blocked in shaft, pillar, barrier, support of main roadway etc.
